Concert: Brittany Haas and Tristan Clarridge

Monday, August 19, 7:30pm

These two musical collaborators of 20+ years reunite for one very special duo concert, in one of Tristan’s all time favorite acoustic rooms, following a rare Crooked Still appearance…

With more than half their lives in bands together and playing tunes all day and night at music camps, these two have developed uncanny musical mind-reading skills and a shared musical vocabulary; an alchemic improvisational interplay that’s conversational through the years.
Brittany Haas and Tristan Clarridge were born in the same year in the same state--California. They grew up in parallel, with their string-playing older sisters, inspired by many of the same musical mentors, immersed in old-time, bluegrass, Celtic and new-acoustic music.

They were both touring members of Darol Anger's seminal group The Republic of Strings.  In 2007, they joined folk-pop sensation Crooked Still, with whom they toured the world and released four critically acclaimed records.   Tristan grew up in a tipi, practicing Bach and Texas old-time fiddling since the age of 2.  A 5-time Grand National Fiddle Championship and cellist with chambergrass trio The Bee Eaters, he has also toured and recorded with Jeremy Kittel, Hanneke Cassel, Laurie Lewis, Bruce Molsky, Natalie MacMaster, Abigail Washburn, and Sean Watkins (of Nickel Creek), and is co-founder of the Shasta Music Summit.  Brittany began touring and recording with her mentors Darol Anger and Bruce Molsky at age 13, releasing her debut album at 17. She has formed many acoustic collaborations such as her trio Hawktail as well as working as a "side man" in such prestigious groups as the Dave Rawlings Machine featuring Gilliian Welch and A Prairie Home Companion house band hosted by Chris Thile. Brittany is currently involved in many exciting bands and collaborations including Hawktail, Punch Brothers, Aoife O’Donovan, Väsen, a duo with her cellist sister Natalie Haas and a duo with Swedish fiddler Lena Jonsson.
