Women’s Song Circle

for healing and celebration

5 Fridays, 4-5:30: April 29, May 6, 13, 20, and 27 at Mettabee in “the Nest.”
With a final community sing that our group will lead on Friday, May 27th, 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Mettabee in the barn. 551 Harlemville Road, Hillsdale, NY.

We will be doing simple ear and voice training, and singing songs oriented toward healing and celebration of life, including rounds, chants, sacred music, and simple harmonies. All songs will be taught in the call and response style by ear. This allows participants to train their ears for deep listening to the group and their part in it, and to fully embody the music without the distraction of reading words or notes. The songs we will learn are simple enough that they can be learned this way. The ultimate aim of singing in this way is to build a joyous experience of real-time, in-the-flesh community that moves the heart and soul. Future workshops will be more inclusive, and over the summer I intend to plan one specifically for children, each one with a different flavor and focus. This first one is for women only. If you need to bring your children please also bring someone to attend to their needs so you can focus on singing. You need not be a “singer” to join this group. All levels of experience are welcome
