SHAKESPEARE VERSE and TEXT WORKSHOP

Shakespeare's text is full of clues! 

Structure

Word choice

Spelling

Meter

Punctuation

During this 5 day workshop we will explore how those clues can illuminate Shakespeare's seemingly arcane language, and reveal meaning, sense, rhythm, pace and character.

We will work with the text of As You Like It.

Warms ups will include Chekhov technique, Spacial Dynamic exercises and improvisation games.

Please come familiar with the text of As You Like it.

The class is open to everyone.

Melania Levitsky teaches at the Michael Chekhov Studio in New York City. She is the Artistic Director of Nikita Productions and the Associate Artistic Director of Walking the dog theater, who jointly produce Hawthorne Valley’s yearly Shakespeare in the Valley, which she directs: Richard II, Shakespeare’s Supernaturals, Winter's Tale. Other recent productions as director include: Self-Made Man, the Life of Frederick Douglass, and Chekhovek, both produced Off-Broadway in NYC. She is a graduate of The Spacial Dynamics Institute’s Level I and Bothmer Gymnastics.
