Music That Dances - A Benefit Concert to Support Kids Need Music

Bend the Knotted Oak (BKO) Chamber Music will present “Music That Dances,” performing music for violin and piano based on a wide variety of dance forms. The virtuosity of Mitsuko Suzuki’s violin will be on display in Miletic’s “Danse for Solo Violin,” and pianist Uel Wade will play solos by Chopin (a quirky and melancholic Mazurka) and Shostakovich (a witty and ironic Polka). There will also be the perfume of Ravel’s “Habanera,” the grit of Piazzola’s “Tanguano,” a graceful Rag, some African music, and lighter pieces based on American dance forms, like clogging, bebop, and country.

Kids Need Music is a non-profit dedicated to helping children realize their potential through music.  All proceeds of this concert will be used to purchase instruments to be given to the Hudson City School District so that more children can participate in the band.
