Village Harmony Concert

Village Harmony Youth World Music Ensemble 

Village Harmony, the acclaimed teen world music singing ensemble, presents a concert at Mettabee Farm in Hillsdale on Friday, August 7 at 7:30 pm. Led by Larry Gordon, Carl Linich and Su Hart, the group includes 24 brilliant teen singers ages 12-19 from seven states as well as Switzerland, UK and Caucasus Georgia. The program includes music of the Baka Pygmies from central Africa, traditional sacred and secular songs from Caucasus Georgia, traditional South African songs and dances, American shape-note singing,  and the Litanies for the Virgin by French baroque composer Antoine Charpentier. 

 The group will also lead a singing workshop open to any interested singers ages 12 and older the following morning  10:00-noon.  They will teach a selection of songs from different genres from their repertoire, with teachin mostly by ear.  Suggested admission at the door for the concert is is $10, $5 for students and seniors, and for the workshop $12/$6 for students.  For more information visit the Village Harmony website: www.villageharmony.org, or call 518-567-5123.
